The honoring of two radical Salafi judges; Sheikh Salih Aldarweesh and Fu'ad Almajid who were recently transferred from Qatif's General Court, upset Qatif's community. This is because those judges were known for their sectarian verdicts during their judicial work in Qatif.

The celebration was on Wednesday, May 26th, 2010, and sponsored by some of the region's public figures. It was conducted on the occasion of promoting and transferring the two judges from the General Court in Qatif to the Supreme Court in Makkah.

Aldarweesh and Almajid are detested by most of Qatif's community for their records of sectarian verdicts and extreme tendencies. Aldarweesh had several extreme verdicts such as his order of separating a couple for sectarian reasons and his sentence of flogging the raped Qatifi girl. He, also, participated in signing an extreme statement in which several Salafi clerics described Shiites as infidels. As for Almajid, he sentenced the young Shiite man, Sadiq MalAllah, to death for vague reasons during the late eighties of the last century.

The community criticized who had sponsored the honoring celebration, and expressed that they do not represent the attitude of the majority. They believe that there are some Sunni leaders who really deserve to be honored for their role in promoting national coexistence.

At the same regard, some Shiite religious leaders from Qatif stated "we believe that honoring competent individuals is a great and civilizational behavior, but we do not favor honoring any character that has unacceptable history or attitudes against people of the region".

They considered this action against the community's solidarity, and, on the other hand, they called the community to stop libeling and slandering who had participated in that event.
